The chemistry program is approved by the American Chemical Society. With an introduction to basic concepts leading to study of the different branches of chemistry and lab experiences, students will have the competency to understand and analyze the most difficult concepts. The program prepares you for graduate work in chemistry, biochemistry, forensics, pharmacy and chemical engineering, or professional schools of medicine and dentistry.

Conduct your research on the University’s new Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer. Collaborate on a research project with a faculty mentor/adviser and present your findings at Adelphi’s Annual Research Conference.

The Department of Chemistry offers the following programs:

» BA or BS in Chemistry

» BS in Biochemistry

» Minor in Chemistry

Students may consider joint degree programs in engineering or dentistry or the pre-health preparation program.

Chemistry majors can also enter the Scholar Teacher Education Program in the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education.
